As the Barista / Cafe Assistant, you are responsible for FoH operations, including the preparation of beverages according to our recipes, taking customers’ orders, answering questions on menu items, serving food and beverages to customers, and performing cashiering duties.
To provide customers with a positive experience, you should possess a friendly disposition, good communication skills and be able to work well under pressure and maintain an adequate energy level.
You should also keep the serving area and cafe premises neat and clean, ensure all equipments are fully operational by following operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, and maintain inventories by replenishing supplies, pastries and cookies for coffee bar. At times, you may also be required to prepare food and assist in ad-hoc duties as needed. Applicants will be sent for a food handling course if they do not possess a valid certificate.
Requirements
- Food Handling Certificate (preferred)
- Barista training and experience are preferred but it isn't a key requirement (training can be provided)
- Ensure quality service standards and adhere to timely service recovery when needed
- Able to make customers feel at ease and comfortable
- Familiar with opening, operating and closing of shift procedures
- Ability to count money accurately without error
- Able to work on a shift pattern to cover early mornings and late evenings
Main Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and manage customers experience through greeting them, attending to their needs in a timely manner, taking their orders accurately and informing them of any specials or unavailable items
- Manage day-to-day operations, including store opening and cash handling
- Prepare and serve FoH food and beverage items
- Maintain workplace safety and health policies and procedures
